#HappyBirthday to Toni Morrison, the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. She was awarded the prize in 1993 in honor of her entire body of work. Morrison's most famous books are The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, and Jazz. In addition to all of these works, it was Beloved, published in 1987, that put Morrison on the short list. The book was on the best-seller list for 25 weeks. The captivating novel tells the story of Sethe, a freed slave, who is haunted by the ghost of her baby.
